April fools day! 🙂
In past years, it’s become sort of a tradition here to do a blog post on a retro technology for April fools day. Today we’re going to take a look at the Internet.. 90’s style!
Back in the early 90s, CBC’s Street Cents visited my high school in order to shoot a segment about the Internet. At that point in time, there was no commercial Internet access (not even dial up) and no one had really heard about “the Internet” unless you were a hardcore computer geek. My friend and I managed to obtain an Internet account through a local university and before we knew it, we sort of became local celebrities on the subject. It was my 15 minutes of fame .. or more like 3 minutes, but who’s counting?
So now thanks to magic of the Internet you can see me (with lots more hair and terrible glasses) introducing Canadian youth to the wonders of the Internet! Yay!
